New Origami!

A few new models, first some turkeys all decked out with little bows for Thanksgiving.

And a new fold for me, what I call a Compass Rose design.

Some double-layered four pointed stars...

And some spirals and single four pointed stars.

Doily doves!

Most of these were made as little door prize donations for my mom's Lion Club big annual BBQ shinding they hold every year, I made up a few bags of 5 assorted models each.

I think it could have it own kid's TV show.

These guys were on front porch tonight, hanging out with the bazillion assorted moths & flying bugs that congregate under the porch light. A very pretty White Lined Sphinx moth, a type of Hummingbird moth--I startled him once and he spread his wings a bit, revealing a red backside, but he wouldn't do it again for the photo:

And a young, slender Praying Mantis. He was using the larger moths for traction, just kinda climbing over them on his way up to the roofline.

The drive home tonight from dinner was a symphony of frogs around the lake and a beautiful, star-filled sky--it was magical.

New discovery--used holiday ribbon makes really COOL puffy Origami stars!

It's so nice to be able to reuse something that normally just gets used once and--most of the time still looking great--gets tossed. The ribbon is strong enough to hold the star shape, is naturally sparkly-pretty and is by far the best thing I've found to fold stars with yet. I've only tried the wide stuff, not the narrow ribbon yet--it will likely work, I just don't know if my fingers are nimble enough to FOLD the narrow ribbon!

Of course, the kid found other uses for them...
