Tried my hand this week at creating an origami mobile! It was fun, and I have ideas for several others. This one has an outer space theme with stars and a little blue sparkley rocket ship.
Damned hard to photograph, though!
The entire thing spins in a very fun way!
Smart-ass Southern California Mom/Writer/Origami fumbler. These days loving our never dull, often absurd family life in the Northern Nevada Eastern Sierra mountains...with LOTS of chickens. Fluent in Snark.

Yay For Garden Junk!
One of my favorite things!
A couple of months ago I spotted a bent metal headboard and two side pieces from a daybed at a rummage sale. Since the rest of the bed was gone--I decided to haul it home to be repurposed in the garden!
So today the headboard was turned on one end and became a trellis for the silverlace vine growing alongside the chicken coop, to grow upon. It actually fit perfectly in the space!
The two side pieces are earmarked as a trellis for peas and raspberries in the vegetable garden in the future.
The vine being fenced off from nibbling feathery marauders, naturally.
Weedcat was providing Chicken Supervision, but was multitasking so was kinda all 'Meh' about it.
Dustbaths being important business, after all.

Sheesh...
Thunder, lightning, high winds, flash floods and torrential rain ain't cutting it.
Lets have some dime-sized hail, too! Whee!
The chickens all wisely took cover in the run and got along peacefully during the Hailpocalypse.
It didn't last very long, but we got a fairly good coating of lil' ice balls.
...and of course some of the plants took some damage to their leaves, but not too bad.
Needless to say, the chickens blame us for this.

Alien Invasion!
It's been too quiet lately, so I figured it was time to inflict a lil' alien invasion on some of my relatives.
One of my unsuspecting sisters got one...
The outside of the packet read, 'Open CAREFULLY!'
Inside, the invasion awaited.
My favorite is this little guy, made from vintage sci-fi comic book paper:
I sent another invasion packet to my little grandniece and nephew, the kid drew them a picture to go with it of the aliens having a party. Sadly, we were racing to catch the mailman and forgot to take a picture.
Oh, well. Everyone should get little surprises in the mail once in a while!

What's That...? I Can't Hear You...
...over the sound of our awesome sunset tonight.
Yeeeeaahh...this is what I see when I look out my back door, it's pretty cool.
Also, I made more Little Green Men!
There's gonna be an alien invasion...

Meanwhile, In Nevada...
Things are getting freaky-deaky!
Our sky this afternoon, the mammatus clouds are back...
This apparantly opened some kind of portal which Seagoat took advantage of.
Buttercup. too.
...and little Fries had to come stomping out of the coop to let me know she's broody.
And quickly assumed the position, The Broody Sphere. After pecking my shoe and chasing some chicks, the Broody Ball went back to her nest.
Good girl!
